Welcome to Riverview Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP)

About Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) in Riverview:

Riverview Public Schools is proud to partner with the State of Michigan to offer the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP), a high-quality, state-funded preschool opportunity provided to our district through Wayne County. This free program serves eligible children who are 4 years old by September 1 and meet the requirements determined during an enrollment interview process guided by the county.

Great Start Readiness Program Philosophy: Our goal is to provide every preschooler with the best educational opportunities through our child-centered, hands-on curriculum, set in a rich learning environment, which is created through our families, community, and professional staff.

We believe that young children learn to the best of their ability when given:

  • A safe, healthy, nurturing environment
  • Development of strong teacher-child relationships in combination with strong family-teacher relationships in which all are valued
  • A wide range of play-based experiences that support the child’s social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.
  • Activities are tailored to your child’s developmental level and personal interests.

Curriculum and Engagement:

We actively partner with families to support each child’s growth. All decisions are rooted in a child-centered approach that considers the Early Childhood Standards of Quality–Prekindergarten, the HighScope curriculum, COR assessment data, parent feedback, and the diverse social, economic, cultural, and family needs within our classroom.

Schedules:

Our GSRP program operates five full days a week, Monday through Friday, following the Riverview district calendar for holiday and inclement weather closings.  Families will be provided with monthly and yearly calendars.  Classroom start and end times are listed below.
